Leetonia - Ruth A. Weikart, 84, died at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at the Salem Community Hospital.
Mrs. Weikart was born October 21, 1927 in Salem, a daughter of the late Alfred David and Eva R. Martin Swaney and had lived in this area all of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she had also served as a Sunday School Teacher. She was a 50 year member of Salem Chapter #344 Order of the Eastern Star and had also volunteered as a librarian aide for Leetonia Schools.
Her husband, Joseph D. Weikart, whom she married August 14, 1949 died October 7, 1992.
She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia A. Weikart of Columbus; a son, James D. (Crystal) Weikart of Leetonia; and two grandsons, Eli D. Weikart and Samuel J. Weikart, both of Leetonia.
A brother, Glenn M. Swaney is also deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2012 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Leetonia with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday and at the church one hour prior to the services on Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Brick Restoration Fund.
