Ruth L. Reed

East Palestine, February 21, 2004, Ruth L. Reed, age 86, of 75 E. Rebecca Street, died at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Parkside Health Care Center, Columbiana.

Mrs. Reed was born July 14, 1917 in East Palestine, a daughter of Howard P. and Edith O. Love Ealy and had lived in this area all of her life. She was a homemaker and had been employed as an upholsterer at the Pittsburgh Chair Company several years ago.

She was a member of the First Church of Christ.

Her husband, John E. Reed, whom she married May 3, 1934 died November 4, 1978.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Sandra) Griffith of East Palestine and Mrs. Lewis (Joyce) Drake of Belle Meade, NJ; two sons, Harold Reed of New Springfield and William Reed of East Palestine; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A son, John "Howdy" Reed, a sister, Marion Pancake, three brothers, John "Jack" Ealy, Ralph Ealy, and Richard Ealy, and a granddaughter, Janet Reed are also deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine with Mr. Robert Helbeck, Minister of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
