Ruth Marie Gloss

Columbiana-Ruth Marie Gloss, age 96, of Columbiana, died on Monday, February 22, 2016 at her residence.

She was born on December 18, 1919 in Somerset Twp. PA, a daughter of the late Perry and Grace Henderson Morrow.

Ruth was a member for over fifty years of the First Presbyterian Church of Columbiana where she was in charge of the nursery for 23 years, a member of the Miriam Circle and served as an Elder. She was a graduate of Bentleyville High School and the Washington Hospital School of Nursing before starting her career as the school nurse for Columbiana Schools.
Ruth will best be remembered as a woman who loved her family and pulled for the Steelers on Sunday.

Her husband, William Gaylord Gloss, whom she married on July 8, 1942, preceded her in death on January 29, 2005.

She is survived by a son, Gaylard “Gayl” (Grace) Gloss of Birmingham AL; a son-in-law, Larry Reed of Bolingbrook IL; a sister, Jacqueline Carson, of Washington, PA.
Also surviving are her two grandsons, William (Julie) Gloss of Cary, NC and Harris (Kimberly) Gloss of Memphis, TN.

Ruth was preceded in death by a daughter, Grace Reed and two sisters, Catherine Van Voorhis and Helen Roupe.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Columbiana.

Burial will follow in the Columbiana Cemetery.
