Leetonia - March 31, 2007 - Ruth Deffenbaugh, 72, of 94 Walnut Street, died at 1:51 a.m. Saturday at the Salem Community Hospital.

Mrs. Deffenbaugh was born October 12, 1934 in Washingtonville, a daughter of Howard and Esther Shepard Stouffer and had lived in this area all of her life.

She had been employed as treasurer of the former NRM Credit Union for 20 years, retiring in 1992.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Washingtonville, Salem Chapter #334 Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary #131 of Leetonia. She was a past matron of the former Leetonia Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband, Carl R. Deffenbaugh, whom she married June 3, 1956; three daughters, Mrs. Rick (Anna M.) Bell of Leetonia, Mrs. Fred (Christy) Griffin of Madison, OH, and Mrs. Noel (Nancy L.) MacKenzie of Salem; a son, Carl R. (Sandy) Deffenbaugh of Leetonia; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Bricker of Leetonia and Mrs. Minnie Hall of New Port Richey, FL; a brother, Howard Stouffer of Leetonia; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A sister, Hazel Heaton is deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia, with Pastor William Medford officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Square Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Monday.
