Russell G. Sinsley, Sr. age 84, formerly of Waddell Street, died at 10.33 a.m. Thursday at the Salem Community Hospital.
Mr. Sinsley was born April 12, 1920 in Perryopolis, PA, a son of Jesse and Daisy Blair Sinsley and had lived in this area most of his life. He had served in the US Navy during WW II in the European Theater.
He had been employed as an expediter/manager at the Deming Pump Company, Salem, for 41 years, retiring in 1982. He had also worked as a police dispatcher for the Village of Leetonia for five years.
He was a member of the Leetonia Mennonite Church, a life member of the York Drexler Post 5532 VFW of Washingtonville, and a member of the Joe Williams Post #131 American Legion and the Leetonia Sportsmans Club. He had served in the Leetonia Village Council for six years.
He is survived by his wife, the former Teresa F. Wagoner, whom he married September 24, 1938; two daughters, Mrs. James (Bonnie Lou) Stark of Brighton, MI and Mrs. John (Karen) Rance of Leetonia; a son, Russell G. Sinsley, Jr. of New Waterford; a sister, Mrs. Georgia B. Esterly of Salem; 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
A sister, Ruth Farmintino; a half sister, Emma Chew; and four brothers, Roger, John, Wilbur, and David Sinsley are deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the Leetonia Mennonite Church with Pastor Robert D. Yoder officiating. Burial will follow in Midway Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia and at the church one hour prior to the services on Monday.
