Columbiana - March 6, 2008 - Rose A. Hawkins, 85, of 5214 Kirk Road died at 7:55 a.m. Thursday at the Parkside Health Care Center, Columbiana, where she had resided the past two years.
Mrs. Hawkins was born December 26, 1922 in Springville, Iowa, a daughter of Cecil E. and Alma L. Pickett Haworth. She was a 1939 graduate of the Olney Friends School, Barnesville and a 1954 graduate of the Huntington Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Pasadena, CA.
She had been employed as a registered nurse and also owned and operated Books That Point The Way in Indio, CA. After that, she worked as a baker at the Olney Friends School. She was a member of the Middleton Friends Meeting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her step mother, Amy Standing; her first husband, Sumner Clouse; her second husband, Floyd Hawkins; a sister, Ida M. Matkovich and two brothers, Edward Haworth and Neil Haworth.
She is survived by two step daughters, Nancy A. Hawkins and Rebecca J. Hawkins, both of Columbiana; two step sons, Jeffrey F. (Eileen) Hawkins of Youngstown and Benjamin K. (Marcia) Hawkins of North Lima; three step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Middleton Friends Meeting House where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow in the Middleton Friends Cemetery.
Arrangements are being made by the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
