Ronald Richard Pine

Leetonia – Ronald Richard Pine, 79, of 226 Elm Street, Leetonia, died Wednesday, March 2, 2016 in Mesa, AZ.

Mr. Pine was born December 1, 1936 in Columbiana, a son of the late William J. and Pauline Abblett Pine. He was a 1955 graduate of Columbiana High School where he excelled in track and field and also football.

He had been employed as a heavy equipment loader operator for Salt River Sand and Rock in Mesa, AZ for 35 years, retiring in 2006. He had also served in the US Army. He had been a member of the Italian American Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, both of Leetonia and the NRA. Ron was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed gardening and also was an aviculturist, raising many types of birds for several years.

He is survived by his wife, the former Marie Elaine Perry, whom he married March 7, 1961; four daughters, Natalie Pine of Chandler, AZ, Deanne Pine of Phoenix, AZ, Michele Pine Linbeck of Mesa, AZ, and Lisa Pine of Los Angeles, CA; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his best friend and companion, his dog, Shadow.

He was preceded in death by a brother, William Pine, Jr. and a sister, Jeanne Pine Heasley.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia with the Reverend Robert Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Monday.
