East Palestine-Ronald L. Freer, 70, passed away Wednesday morning, April 5, 2017 at his home following a valiant battle with cancer.
Mr. Freer was born January 7, 1947 in Salem, a son of the late Edward O. and Martha L. Rauch Freer and had lived on his family land all of his life.
Most recently, Ron worked for Elder Ag and Turf in the Parts and Service Department.
Ron was a member and active in the choir at Centenary United Methodist Church, East Palestine. Ron was member and officer of the former Unity Ruritan Club. He also helped at many of the Alumni and Friends scholarship dinners. He loved playing crokinole, fishing and gardening and especially spending time with his boys, his nephew, Dan and his best friend, Tom.
He is survived by his wife, the former Toni Gallatin, whom he married September 6, 1969; and his two sons, Lieutenant Colonel Josef Freer of Columbus and Steven Freer of East Palestine.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Dwaine Freer.
Friends will be received from 12 noon- 1:00 pm Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Centenary United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Centenary United Methodist Church with Pastor Mark McTrustry officiating.
Memorial contributions in memory of Ron may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
