Salem - April 17, 2006 - Ronald L. Edgerton, age 66, of 40105 Salem-Unity Road, died Monday at his home.

Ron was born November 24, 1939 in Salem, a son of the late Gilbert J. and Mary E. Andre Edgerton and had lived in this area all of his life. He had served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He had been employed as a meat cutter for 26 years at Giant Eagle in Austintown, retiring in 2004.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Leetonia, the Leetonia Ruritan Club, and had served on the Leetonia Volunteer Fire Department for many years.

His wife, the former Ruth Ann Baird, whom he married April 20, 1963 died February 26, 2005. He is survived by a daughter and her fiancAC., Loueta Edgerton and Larry Kerestes of Washingtonville; two sisters, Mrs. Lou (Nova) Carman of Cedarville and Mrs. Ada Mary Thompson of Columbus; a sister in law, Bobbie Edgerton of Worthington; a brother in law, Robert (Jan) Baird of New Waterford; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and one great nephew.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home, Columbiana, with Pastor Cheryl Vanatsky officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Leetonia. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the Parkside Healthcare Center, Columbiana or the Leetonia Volunteer Fire Department.
