Leetonia – Robert “Eugene” Worley, age 90, of Leetonia, went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the Hospice House, Poland.
He was born April 9, 1923 in Washington, DC to the late Rexford and Isa Pearl Eaton Worley.
Eugene had worked as an oil and heating technician for 45 years. While working for Hessick Oil Inc. in Washington, DC, he was promoted to supervisor in 1982 and retired in 1988. He still enjoyed keeping up on the current events in the oil and heating industry and looked forward to reading his oil and heating magazines.
Eugene was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Rainier, MD. He moved to Ohio in 1988 and was a member of the Columbiana Baptist Church. He enjoyed duckpin bowling and working around his house and yard. Eugene was a very handy man. He loved helping friends and family with various home projects as well as “tinkering” in his workshop. He also enjoyed traveling, camping and attending bluegrass festivals.
His wife, Leah E. Hardy Worley, whom he married on May 30, 1942, preceded him in death on January 7, 2010.
He is survived by a son, Rexford E. (Audra) Worley of Youngstown, a daughter, Elizabeth A Wilson of Leetonia and a brother, William (Marge) Worley of Columbiana. Also surviving are six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Eugene was preceded in death by a son, Roger E. Worley and by two sisters, Ethel McIntyre and Dorothy Worley.
There will be a private family service with Pastor Nathaniel Wilson his grandson, officiating.
