Robert G. Welce

Rogers - Mr. Robert G. Welce, of Rogers, passed away at the ripe old age of 95, on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at True North Memory Care, East Liverpool.

He was born on September 11, 1928, in East Palestine, son of the late Clyde and Mildred Saint Welce.

Upon graduation Bob married his high school sweetheart and enlisted in the U.S Navy where they spent the next four years in corpus Christi, Texas. Upon his discharge from the Navy, they moved back to Clarkson, Ohio where he became the plant manager at Sterns and Foster furniture and eventually retired at the age of 62. Most people would remember Bob as being heavily involved in his church, Clarkson presbyterian. Where he was a lifetime member. Bob had the privilege of owning and piloting his own private plane for many years. Most would know Bob as a scratch golfer. He was a long-time member of the Salem Golf club and East Palestine Country club. He once took the title of best senior golfer in Ohio, what a great accomplishment that was! Bob also had many other hobbies including hunting, camping, and vacationing. There was always something on his agenda! Bob enjoyed life to the fullest, never standing idle very long. He will always be remembered for his pleasant jolly personality and his love for animals.

His wife, Edith Eileen Hole Welce, whom he married on June 30, 1950, preceded him in death on, November 24, 2019.

Robert is survived by his; brother, Phil (Rita) Welce of Columbiana and niece Jody; two sons, Jerry Welce of Columbiana and Terry Welce of Largo, FL. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Amanda Welce of Largo, FL and Michael (Suzanne) Welce of Cincinnati and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his recently deceased oldest son, Kerry R. Welce.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 1:00 pm at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana, with Pastor Cindy Figley officiating.

Military Honors will be accorded by the Benjamin Firestone Post #290 American Legion Honor Guard.

Burial will take place at Clarkson Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
