Robert Allan Miles passed away on August 17, 2025. In a moment that feels touched by fate, he was reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Julieann, on what would have been her 77th birthday – just four days shy of their 54th wedding anniversary.

Born in Sharon, Pennsylvania, Rob grew up with a strong sense of family and faith that guided him throughout his life. He graduated from Neshannock High School in 1965 and went on to serve proudly as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force Reserves for seven years.

Rob and Julieann built their life together in Salem, Ohio, where he worked for 40 years with the phone company—now AT&T—while serving as an active member of the Communication Workers of America Union. In retirement, Rob gave back to his community by volunteering his time to provide free tax preparation and was a longtime fixture in the Mahoning Valley Corvettes Club, where he served as past board treasurer. He was also a devoted supporter of causes close to his and his family’s hearts, including The Gathering Place, the Salem Alumni Association, St. Paul Catholic Church, The Bob Denton Safety Forces Support Center and Pelotonia.

Above all, Rob will be remembered for his kind and generous spirit. An endlessly loving and compassionate father, a proud Marine Corps dad, and an enthusiastic Ohio State parent – Rob was the best dad to his son, Michael (Amanda) Miles of Akron, and his daughter, Meredith Miles of Columbus. His three grandsons – Wyatt, Waylon, and Walker – brought him immeasurable joy, and he embraced his role as their “Bubba” with boundless love, energy, and pride.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Robert Miles and Jean L. Miles; his stepmother, Mary A. Miles; his brother, Jim Miles; and his loving wife, Julieann. He is survived by his children and grandchildren; his brothers, David (Joy) Miles and Richard (Brenda) Miles; his sister-in-law, Liz Lane (Dave Fisher); his step-sisters, Jean Gaydos, Karen (Bill) Humphrey, and Diane (David) Petrarca; as well as many extended family members, friends, and neighbors who will remember him with love.

Rob lived his life with devotion—to his family, his passions, and his community. He leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, kindness, and warmth that will carry on through those who loved him most.
