Columbiana-July 12, 2011-Robert J. Hisey, 86, of Columbiana, died at 1:54 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center, Boardman of congestive heart failure.
Mr. Hisey was born September 25, 1924 in East Palestine, a son of Allen and Cora Bush Hisey and had lived in this area all of his life.
Bob worked for the Ohio Turnpike Commission for many years retiring in 1991. He was a member of the New Waterford United Methodist Church and served as an usher for over 25 years. He was also a charter member of the New Waterford Lions Club, a member of the East Palestine Lodge #417 F. & A. M. and the 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Valley of Youngstown.
Bob served in the US Army during World War II where he was in the 99th Infantry Division in the European Theater of Operations during the Battle of the Bulge. During his time in the service he received several decorations and citations including the American Theater Ribbon, Eame Theater Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal of WW II.
He is survived by his wife, the former Evelyn Smith, whom he married July 10, 1948; a daughter, Barbara (David) Moore of Columbiana; a brother, Earl Hisey of East Palestine; and two grandchildren, Rebecca Moore of Youngstown and Scott (Rachael) Moore of Hampton, VA.
A brother, Walter Hisey preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the New Waterford United Methodist Church with Reverend Charles Ready officiating. Burial will follow in the New Waterford Cemetery where military honors will be accorded. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Masonic services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
