San Diego, Ca - March 14, 2008 - Robert "Bob" J. Hill, loving husband and father, 70, died peacefully on March 14, 2008 after a long, difficult struggle with Alzheimer's disease in San Diego, CA where he had been residing. He had formerly resided in Washingtonville, Ohio.
Bob was born on January 31, 1938 in Salem, OH, a son of John and Mildred Brown Hill and lived in the area for most of his life. He served in the United States Army Reserve from 1961-1967. Bob worked as a machinist for almost 40 years at a tool and die company where he retired in 2000.
Bob was a Past Master of the Leetonia Lodge #401 F. & A.M. and a Past Patron of the former Leetonia Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Stars #253. He also served a term as President of the Kiwanis and President of the Ruritans.
Bob married Deloris Sinnett on January 12, 1963 in Niles, OH. The greatest joy they shared together was traveling with their two daughters.
Bob enjoyed fishing, playing softball with the church league, and golfing later in his life. He took great pride in his woodworking and gardening (especially his red garlic and dahlias). But later in his life, his passion became his grandchildren, spending many hours with them playing and making them laugh. He is best known among his family and friends for his generosity in always lending a helping hand to those in need.
He is survived by his wife, Deloris Sinnett Hill of San Diego, CA; two daughters, Mary (Tom) Brown of Sumter, SC; and Becky Merrill of San Diego, CA; a sister, Lois Kornbau of Salem, OH; and five grandchildren, Robby, Matthew, Adrienne, Christopher, and Tristan.
