Rick "Sarge" Carl Dattilio

Columbiana- Rick “Sarge” Carl Dattilio, age 64, of Columbiana, was called home after his courageous battle with cancer on Friday January 16, 2026, in Massillon, Ohio under hospice care.

He was born on March 12, 1961, in Salem, a son of the late William C. and Shari Ann Gavin Dattilio.

Rick was a graduate of Columbiana High School. After high school he joined the United States Army in 1981 and served his county as an M.P. during the Gulf War having obtained the rank of staff sergeant. Rick began his career working for the Lisbon Police Department before dedicating the next 26 years working for the Leetonia Police Department where he earned the rank of sergeant and became affectionately known as “Sarge”. Rick was a member of the American Legion in Leetonia and VFW in Washingtonville. When he was not working, he loved fishing and riding 4-wheelers with his buddies in West Virginia.

He is survived by his daughters Michelle (John) White and Valerie Dattilio both of Columbiana. His grandson, Hunter McCuean, a granddaughter, Marina White, and a grandson, Daxton Dattilio all of Columbiana. He is also survived by a sister, Lana Sue (Brad) While of New Waterford. His two Aunts, Ruth Ann (Frank) Grimes and Doral Shar as well as many cousins.

Rick is preceded in death by his two brothers Robert William Dattilio and Shawn Allen Dattilio, and a sister Tara Lee Dattilio.

Per Rick’s wishes, private family services were held.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
