Richard "Rick" McCoy II

Richard "Rick" McCoy II, age 74, of Leetonia, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, May 22, 2026.

Rick was born on December 9, 1951, in Salem, Ohio. Son of the late Richard "Pud" McCoy and Wanda Longbottom McCoy.

A 1970 graduate of Leetonia high school, he continued his education through numerous trade schools to become a certified electrician. He worked for Bliss and General Electric in Salem until it closed. Rick had a lifelong passion for anything electrical, and was known for his ability to fix and build just about anything.

Rick was co-owner of the J&R Lounge in Leetonia. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, football, and cheering on the Cleveland Browns. Trips to the casino and spending time with his daughter was top of the list. He took great pride in building his home and spent countless hours working on old cars with friends.

He was a member of the Leetonia Legion, Eagles, ITAM and Washingtonville VFW.

Rick is survived by his two daughters, Betsy McCoy of Columbiana and Molly McCoy of Columbus; two sisters Pamela McCoy of Leetonia and Mary Irey of Salem; Nieces Melissa (Dave) Plummer and Shannon (Joe) Botinovch; Grandson Brendan; great-niece Jenna; and nephews Tyler and Alex.

To his many friends- you know who you are, thank you for being there for him. He was blessed to have you all in his life for so many years.

Burial will take place at Oakdale cemetery. No formal services will be held.

All family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life at the Leetonia American Legion Hall on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 2:00pm – 4:00 pm. Let's celebrate the man that loved a cold drink by raising a glass to him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home in Leetonia.
