Richard S. Hazel

Leetonia- Richard S. Hazel, age 79, of Leetonia, died on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Essex of Salem III.

He was born on July 28, 1937 in Youngstown, the son of the late Richard G. and Virginia Lloyd Hazel.

Richard was a veteran of the United States Navy. He had worked as an electrician for Syro Steel in Girard and was a member of Columbiana Baptist Church. He was an amateur radio operator with the call sign N8PLH. Richard also enjoyed building and flying model airplanes.

He is survived by his wife, Philomena Perrocco Hazel, whom he married on May 11, 1968; a son, Rick (Marcia) Hazel of Greenford; daughter, Allie-Kae Diamantes of Youngstown, and a sister, Jeanne (Gary) Henry of Aurora, CO. Also surviving are six grandchildren; two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by a son, Michael Hazel and a sister, Martha Spatholt.

Per his request, private family services were held.

Burial was at the Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
