North Lima-Richard C. Fitzwilliams, age 80, passed away Wednesday July 24, 2024 at Caprice Health Care Center, North Lima.
Richard was born December 25, 1943 in Youngstown, a son of the late Joseph and Agnes Larson Fitzwilliams.
He was a brakeman conductor for Youngstown Sheet and Tube for many years. Richard was a proud member of the US Army and was stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas. He was the first private to go to radar school. He served in Korea as radar operator on Nike-Hercules missles from 1965 thru 1967. He was also an avid bird watcher, loved dogs, jigsaw puzzles, woodworking and trains. Most of all he loved his family and his country.
He is survived by his five sisters, Virginia Keshock of Columbiana, Patricia Mason of Shreveport Louisiana, Janet (Pete) Bobby of Salem, Barbara (Rick) Nelson of Louisville and Diane (John) Dilling of New Waterford; two brothers, Joseph Fitzwilliams, Jr. of New Springfield and Robert (Wilma Selman) Fitzwilliams of East Liverpool; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Bonnie Kupec and Theresa Bostic.
Calling hours will be held from 5-7 pm Monday, July 29, 2024 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 pm Monday, July 29, 2024 at the funeral home with Mr. Jay Radman officiating. Military Honors will be accorded following the service.
