Richard J. Ferrall

Columbiana - February 7, 2009 - Richard J. Ferrall, 81, of Springfield Road, passed away early Saturday morning at the Caprice Health Care Center in North Lima after a brief illness.

Rich was born January 3, 1928 in Fairfield Township, Columbiana County, a son of Russell and Myrtle Shearer Ferrall and had resided in Columbiana his entire life.

He was employed as a pattern maker at Humtown Pattern until his retirement in 1993. Prior to that, he had worked at the NRM Company in Columbiana for over 20 years.

Rich enjoyed spending time with his family and in later years was a devoted caregiver to his wife, Virginia, whom he married March 12, 1976 and who passed away on his birthday, January 3, 2005. He is survived by two step daughters, Mrs. Steve (Jane) Koch of Columbiana and Mrs. Ron (Sharon) Suffolk of South Lyon, MI; a sister, Mrs. Alice Cope of New Waterford; six grandchildren, Rick (Amy) Clark, Jeremy (Gina) Clark, Kimberly Bauer, Troy (Tracy) Lumley, Mark (Jennifer) Chappell, and Jeff Suffolk; nine great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews including Mark Cope, Theresa Branner, Beth Waldren, Scott, Drew, Doug, David, and Jeff Ferrall.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Jean Converse and three brothers, William, Raymond, and Edmond Ferrall.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana, with Mr. Robert Helbeck, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. on Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be sent to the charity of the donors choice.
