East Palestine-September 18, 2008-Richard A. Bycroft, 71, of 254 Carbon Hill Road, died at 3:25 p.m. Thursday at the Salem Community Hospital.
Mr. Bycroft was born September 16, 1937 in East Palestine, a son of Robert R. and Mary Cragle Bycroft and had lived in this area all of his life.
Richard worked for L.W. Nash and Alcoa for 28 years and then was a maintenance supervisor for the Columbiana County Career Center for 23 years retiring in 2007. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of East Palestine and served in the US Army.
He is survived by his wife, the former Priscilla K. Madison; three sons, Jeff Bycroft of Livingston,TX, Todd (Heidi) Dunlap of Lowellville and Kevin Bycroft of East Palestine; and four grandchildren.
Informal calling hours will be observed from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine. Private services will be held at the First United Presbyterian Church of East Palestine with Pastor Mark McTrustry officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenview Cemetery where the combined unit of American Legion Post #31 and VFW Post #4579 Honor Guard will accord military honors.
