New Waterford - Rebecca Ann Hively, 73, of New Waterford, died on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at her home, with her family by her side, after a year of declining health.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Roy; her sons, Aaron (Melissa), Joel (Tracey), and Luke (Abby); and her nine grandchildren: Tres, Blythe, Ezra, Tyller, Sarah, Isaac, Lucas, Ethan, and Delaney. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Robert Gosney and Bette Irene Mullen Gosney; her brother, Fred; and her sister, Karen.
Born January 12, 1953, in East Liverpool, Rebecca grew up in Columbiana. There, she made fond memories playing and swimming in Firestone Park, and she later graduated from Columbiana High School with the Class of 1971.
Early on, she worked as a teller at the former New Waterford Bank, eventually concluding her career as a judicial secretary at the Seventh District Court of Appeals in Youngstown.
Rebecca cherished spending time at her home, where she loved watching sunrises and sunsets, and tending to her yard and flower gardens. She took great pleasure in gathering with friends to play dominoes and cards, over the years, using her etiquette skills she hosted many wonderful parties for her family and friends. A talented musician, Rebecca also loved playing the piano, as well as serving as the organist at the New Waterford Presbyterian Church and playing as a guest organist at other area churches on Sunday mornings.
