East Palestine-Rebecca Jane Hacker, 90, of Copeland Oaks, formerly of East Palestine, died June 3, 2014 at Crandall Medical Center.

Jane was born October 25, 1923 on the family farm, the daughter of the late Walter Heath and Jeannette Houseman Zundel.

She worked during World War II at Curtiss-Wright as a propeller inspector. Jane also worked at Peace Valley Orchards for over 16 years.

She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of East Palestine where she served as Sunday School teacher and member of the choir for many years. Jane loved taking care of her family in addition to baking, cooking, gardening and reading. She was an expert at recycling before the word came into vogue. One of her favorite sayings was a New England adage, "Use it up. Wear it out. Make it do. Or do without."

Her husband, Walter C. Hacker whom she married May 6, 1950 died on November 8, 2012.

She is survived by two daughters, Audrey (Tom) Jordan of Canfield and Becky (Marty) Hibbard of Gahanna, four grandchildren, Jill (Steve) Jaeger of Gulfport, FL; Nathan (Whitney) Jordan of Saratoga Springs, NY; Maria Hibbard of Cleveland and Teresa Hibbard of Gahanna and one great-grandson, Patrick Jaeger. She is also survived by her sister, Clara Nold of Warren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, John, and Jacob Zundel and one sister, Rhoda Morlan.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with Reverend Carolyn Griffeth officiating. Burial will follow in Achor Cemetery, Negley.
