Leetonia- Raymond “Wardy” C. Ward, Jr., age 73, of Leetonia, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 26, 2015, at his residence.

He was born on September 14, 1942 in Salem, a son of the late Raymond C. Ward Sr. and Elizabeth Troy Ward.

Wardy was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Vietnam War and had worked as a machine assembler for Fordees Manufacturing Inc. in Leetonia for 30 years. He was a member of the Washingtonville Sportsman Club, the Leetonia Italian-American Club, Eagles and American Legion. Wardy enjoyed fishing, playing cards, playing games on his Kindle and going to flee markets. Mostly, he enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly, his two grandchildren whom he adored. He said that when he died, he would want to come back as an eagle, so when you see an eagle, think of Wardy.

He is survived by his wife, of 48 years, Linda Jean Lamoncha Ward, whom he married on February 4, 1967; his son, Jody (Jamie) Ward of Leetonia; his two grandchildren, Landon and Lauren Ward of Leetonia and a brother, Chuck Ward also of Leetonia.

Wardy was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Ward and a sister, Patty Ward.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 29, 2015, from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating.

Burial will be at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Leetonia.
