Columbiana - Ray Oeler, age 76, of Columbiana, died peacefully on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at his home in Columbiana.
He was born on December 2, 1947, in Salem, son of the late William and Edith Flohr Oeler.
Ray, a proud and devoted American, served in the U.S. Air Force, he was stationed in Germany during Vietnam and Desert Storm and retired from the military as a Tech Sergeant in 1993. He then worked at Columbiana Boiler and went on to retire from American Standard, Salem. Ray was a devoted member of St. Jude Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Father Cavanaugh 4th Degree Assembly Knights of Columbus, St. Jude Council. He enjoyed baseball and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan. “Let’s Go Bucs!”
Ray is survived by his three daughters, Shannon Petak of Columbiana, Carrie Martin of Columbiana, and Amanda Burkholder of Bayville, NJ; his beloved companion, Lynn "Cupcake" Williams of Mississippi; a sister, Mary (Robert) Guy of Indian Harbour Beach, FL; six grandchildren, Kaylee (Bryce), Braydon, Bryant, Jason, Cameron and Larissa and a great grandchild, Braxton. “We are family!”
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana. Visitation will also be held on Friday. February 2, 2024 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, Columbiana. A knights of Columbus rosary service will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday to conclude calling hours.
Mass will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 11:00 am at the St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, Columbiana, with Father Chad Johnson officiating.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Benjamin Firestone post #290 American Legion Honor Guard.
Burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, 180 7th Street Columbiana, OH 44408.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
