Ray E. Dawson

Columbiana September 27, 2008 Ray E. Dawson, 70, of 130 Hawkins Lane passed away on Saturday, at Brunswick Hospital in Georgia.

Mr. Dawson was born February 18, 1938, in Shippingport, PA, a son of the late Frank and Mary Shamp Dawson, living in Ohio most of his adult life.

Mr. Dawson was a veteran of the United States Navy; he was the assistant Scout Master of Troup 31 from 1973-1980 in Niles, OH; he retired from Delphi Packard in December 2006 after 36 years of service as an Industrial Electrician. He was a member of the Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Columbiana.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Laurie Dawson Feniello formerly of Pittsburgh, PA and a step daughter, Roxanne Gibson formerly of Rootstown, OH.

Mr. Dawson is survived by his loving family, his wife, Carol; a daughter, Gina Dawson of Alpharetta, GA; two sons, Ray Dawson, Jr. of Oviedo, FL and Justin Dawson of Newport News, VA; a step daughter, Cassandra (Rob) Hanna and two grandchildren, Brant and Brittney Hanna all of Ravenna, OH; a brother, Frank (Yoko) Dawson of Niles, OH; three sisters, Elsie Standley and Mabel Fink both of Beaver, PA and Hazel Johnson of Jackson Center, PA; as well as, many loving nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 415 S. Main Street, Columbiana, OH with Reverend David H. Conrad officiating. The Honor Guard from Benjamin Firestone Post #290 American Legion will accord military honors. Burial will be in the Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna, OH. Friends may call from 4-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, 28 North Main Street, Columbiana, OH and from 12-1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church.
