Ramon L. Berger

Columbiana - Ramon L. Berger, 86, of Columbiana, passed away Thursday afternoon, May 8, 2014, at the Northside Medical Center, Youngstown.

Ramon was born January 31, 1928 in Sebring, the son of the late Crist and Elsie Mountz Berger and had lived in this area most of his life.

He had had been a farmer for most of his life and a driver for BFI for 15 years, retiring in 1985.

Mr. Berger was a member of the East Fairfield United Methodist Church. He loved traveling, camping and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, the former, Sarah Moore, a son, Leonard (Sue) Berger of East Palestine; a daughter, Christina Sturgell of Columbiana; five grandchildren, Keith (Becky) Berger of Columbiana, Jennifer Berger of Poland, Sarah (John) Sanor of Columbiana, Dan Sturgell of Atlanta, GA and Eric Sturgell of Athens; a great grandson, Keith Ramon Berger of Columbiana and a sister, JoAnn (Jay) Jarvis of Windham, ME.

A brother, Don Berger preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014 at the East Fairfield United Methodist Church with Reverend Susan Antolik officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens, New Waterford. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana and one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.
