R. June Mcmillin

Enon Valley, PA - November 4, 2006 - R. June McMillin, age 77, of 1841 Moravia Road, died at 5:00 p.m. Saturday at Jameson Hospital, New Castle following a long illness.

Mrs. McMillin was born June 12, 1929 in East Palestine, OH a daughter of Henry F. and Ila Eakin McMillin and had lived in Enon Valley and the Mt. Jackson area all of her married life. She was a 1947 graduate of the East Palestine High School. She was employed as a general ledger bookkeeper for the former Union National Bank in Youngstown, OH where she once modeled the Hope Diamond while working there.

June was a member of Westfield Presbyterian Church, New Castle, the Fife Bible Class, and the Women's Association where she held various offices. She was a member of Westfield Grange, the Lawrence County Pomona Grange and the Pennsylvania State and National Grange. She was a volunteer in the Home Economics Department at the Lawrence County Fair for many years and was also a former member of the Enon Valley Women's Club. She was a Past Matron of the East Palestine Chapter #381 Order of the Eastern Star and an honorary member of the Enon Valley Meridan Chapter #284. She was also a recipient of the Grand Cross of Color for Rainbow. June also loved to collect lighthouses, angels, and nativity scenes.

She is survived by her husband, Howard W. McMillin, whom she married August 19, 1950; three daughters, Nancy Ann, Mary Elizabeth and Laura Vannessa McMillin all of Enon Valley, a son, Roy Franklin McMillin of Enon Valley; a brother, John Leland (Gayle) McMillin of New Springfield, OH; and two sister in laws, Helen McMillin of New Waterford, OH and Lila Mitzel of Mineral Ridge, OH.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Ila May McMillin, two sisters, Vannessa Booth and Doris McMillin, a brother, William McMillin and two infant brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Westfield Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. Robert Bardeen officiating. Burial will follow in the Westfield Presbyterian Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine, OH and from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church. East Palestine Chapter will conduct OES services at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
