East Palestine - Paul H. Clapsadle, age 90, of East Palestine, died on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.

He was born on September 7, 1924 in Leetonia, the son of the late Charles Clapsadle and the late Marcella Walzer Longanecker.

Paul was a graduate of Lisbon High School and was a veteran of WWII where he received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service in the US Army in the Pacific Campaign. He was a longtime member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in East Palestine, the VFW and the American Legion and had worked at N.R.M. in Columbiana for 27 years. Early on, Paul enjoyed the fine details of repairing and building watches, boating on Lake Erie and then traveling and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Jean Yarian Clapsadle; son, Larry J. Clapsadle (Sue) of East Palestine; son, Rick A. Clapsadle (Jan) of San Jose, CA; daughter, Jill Clapsadle McIntyre (Michael) of Edmond, OK; son, Mark D. Clapsadle of Granville, OH; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Paul was preceded in death by three sisters.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Pastor Armando Arellano and Pastor Mark McTrustry officiating.

Burial will be at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens, New Waterford at a date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East Palestine Fire Department or Social Concerns.
