Patricia "Patty" M. Downey

East Palestine - Patricia "Patty" Downey, age 53, of East Palestine, died on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.

She was born on August 8, 1961, in Salem, a daughter of Jane Noel Moreira and the late Donald White.

Patty enjoyed crafts, painting and working puzzles. Mostly, she enjoyed her family and spending time with her granddaughter.

She is survived by her mother, Jane Moreira of Columbiana; two daughters, Melissa Downey of Lisbon and Sarah Downey of East Palestine; a brother, Bryan White of East Palestine; two sisters, Penny Melott of Columbiana and Brenda McCormick of Arizona. Also surviving is her beloved granddaughter, Alissa Sayer as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 6, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 6, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Karl Rein officiating.

Patty believed that a red cardinal represented those who have passed. So when you see a red cardinal, think of Patty.
