Park L. Derringer

East Palestine May 31, 2005 -Park L. Derringer, age 85, formerly of East Palestine died at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday in the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Lisbon.

He was born July 1, 1919 in Wellsville, son of Aral "Poppy" and Mabel Shearer Derringer and had lived in the area most of his life.

He worked as a truck driver for various trucking companies including Daniel's Motor Freight, Warren, Coastal Tank Lines, Beaver Falls, PA, A&P Grocery, Salem and also owned and operated his own truck for Ryder Truck Lines retiring in 1981.

He was preceded in death February 15, 2004 by his wife, the former Iverne L. Dyke, whom he married in January 1947.

He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. John (Kelly) Gross of Columbiana, Ms. Beverly Jean Martin of Darlington, PA, Mrs. Jim (Carol Ann) Walker of Butler County, PA, and Mrs. Tim (Judy) Rain of FL; two sons, James (Barbara) Derringer of Lisbon, and Gary Dyke of East Palestine; a brother Raymond Derringer of Darlington, PA; 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Leola Croft.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine with the Pastor Ted Ludwig of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Salineville officiating.
