Palma "Pam" H. (Dinsio) Blakeman

Listen to Obituary

Palma “Pam” H. Blakeman, 88 of Columbiana, passed into the arms of her Savior after an extended illness on June 16, 2025 in her home at The Inn at Old Saybrook in Columbiana.

Born on April 9, 1937 in Bunker Hill, near Salem, Ohio, she was a much loved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, whose compassion, kindness, bright smile and tenderness warmed the hearts of everyone around her.

Preceding her in death were her parents Emilio and Bertha Dinsio, her dedicated husband Carl (Gene) Blakeman Jr, whom she married October 3, 1954 and her son Larry Blakeman, and 6 siblings.

Palma’s legacy continues through her children, Steve (Kathy) Blakeman of Columbiana, James (Melissa) Blakeman of Sacramento, California, Teresa (George) Hippo of Austintown, Denise (Roger) Scott of Burkburnett, TX, and Daniel (Julie) Blakeman of Canfield. She adored her grandchildren, Bryan (Betsy Theodore) Blakeman, Brad (Sarah) Blakeman, Brooke (Chris) Stewart, Travis (Amy) Blakeman, Tricia and Michael Blakeman, Orion, Avery and Neil Valentine, Cameron Hippo, Nathan Scott, Brittany (Jacob) Spina, Rio Blakeman, along with 14 great-grandchildren who will all miss her deeply. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Cyndi Blakeman of Leetonia and her brother, Amil Dinsio of Poland.

She lived her entire life in and around the Columbiana, Ohio area. Besides being a wonderful homemaker, she was an unashamed and faithful follower of Christ, supporting her local church as well as ministering with her husband nearly every weekend for decades singing, playing the piano and bringing the gospel message and hope to residents of many nursing homes throughout the area and in many area churches. She was co-founder of Blakeman Ministries with her husband Gene, and had a weekly television program (Come Alive Broadcast) which was televised locally as well as cable stations nationally, interviewing fellow believers who shared their life stories and faith journeys, and how their faith in Christ revolutionized their lives. Following Christ and sharing God’s love was the complete focus of her life, even throughout a very difficult and debilitating illness until her last days.

To know Palma Blakeman was to love her. Her sense of humor and magnetic personality drew you to her and you always felt encouraged when around her. She judged no-one, and could always find a kind word for anyone. Palma loved playing competitive games with her friends, family and fellow residents, and if you challenged her to a game of Rummy 500, you better have been prepared to lose. She rarely missed a bingo game and faithfully saved her “bingo dollars” for the future. She quickly developed deep relationships with her resident friends, evidenced by their deep, genuine care for her as she passed. She leaves a deep void in our hearts, and will be sorely missed.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Inn at Old Saybrook of Columbiana for their loving care, for being her second family, and for making her final days such a peaceful, caring experience.
