East Palestine - October 4, 2004 - Olive Mae Mansell, age 91, formerly of East Palestine, died at 9:30 a.m. Monday at The Courtyard at Lexington in Salem where she had resided the past year.

Mrs. Mansell was born April 24, 1913 in East Palestine, a daughter of Sherman B. and Lydia M. Barr Ward. She was a 1931 graduate of East Palestine High School and she was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church and the Esther Club and United Methodist Women of the church. She was also a member of the American Bible Society and the Heritage Foundation. Mrs. Mansell was a member of the East Palestine Art Club and had received many awards for her paintings.

Her husband, Raymond D. Mansell, whom she married June 24, 1933, died May 6, 1980.

She is survived by a daughter in law, Mrs. Judith Mansell of East Palestine and a granddaughter, Sheena L. Mansell and her husband, Jeffrey Steinbrunner of Cleveland.

Her son, Raymond D. Mansell, Jr. and a brother, Delbert S. Ward are also deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine with the Reverend Ronald Spore, of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the services on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Centenary United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
