Salem, OH-Olive Bryarly Carter, 85, formerly of Columbiana, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, July 24, 2011, at her home.
Mrs. Carter was born January 17, 1926 in East Fairfield, a daughter of Claud and Mary Ward Bryarly and had lived in the area all her life.
She had been a custodian at Crestview Middle School.
Mrs. Carter was a water colorist and enjoyed crafting, flowers, birds and gardening. She was a 4-H advisor for 12 years. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. Olive loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was famous for her huge Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts.
Her husband of 63 years, Sidney Thomas Carter, whom she married May 31, 1947 died March 6, 2011.
She is survived by two daughters, Ellen (Marlin) Carter Clark of Williamsfield and Shirley (Wade) Carter Clark of Peninsula; six grandchildren, Joshua (Melissa) Clark, Nathan (Jennifer) Clark, Mackenzie (Brett) Clark Boothe, Jesse Clark, Evan (Cassie) Clark and Wade Clark; and three great grandchildren, Harrison Clark, Hudson Boothe, and Nolan Boothe.
A sister, Evelyn Peppel and a brother, Rollin Bryarly preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Reverend Aaron Sherman officiating. Burial will follow in East Fairfield Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2011, at the funeral home.
