Ola Laura Russell

Columbiana - April 1, 2007 - Ola Laura Russell, lifetime resident of the Columbiana area, died at 9:20 p.m. Sunday at the Salem Community Hospital.

Ola was born June 21, 1918 in Clarkson, Ohio, daughter of S. George and Jane McCoy Dyke. She was baptized in the Clarkson Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Fairfield Centralized High School, Columbiana, OH, in 1936.

She married William Anderson Russell on March, 30, 1938, in Chester, WV. After 67 years of marriage, Mr. Russell preceded her in death in 2006.

Besides being a housewife and mother, Mrs. Russell owned and operated Ola's Beauty Salon in Columbiana for 34 years. Mrs. Russell was respected for her vast knowledge and appreciation of Victorian collectibles.

Surviving are a daughter, Patricia May Russell of Salem; two sons, William Russell of Fort Wayne, IN and Gary Russell of Columbiana; two sisters, Mrs. Thelma (Voldemars) Apinis and Mrs. Zelma Russell, both of Columbiana; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Four sisters, Margaret Kurtz, Zelda Gaston, Helen Keslar and Erma Dyke and a brother, Glenn G. Dyke preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home, Columbiana with Mr. Clarence Mansfield, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 Friday.
