New Waterford - Norma Jean Hurst Wolfe of New Waterford passed away on February 28th at 72 years of age. Mrs. Wolfe was born January 4, 1954 in Salem, the daughter of John and Norma L. Wilson Hurst. Jean was a 1973 graduate of Beaver Local High School and was married to her high school sweetheart, Stephen Wolfe, on September 11, 1971 for 47 years prior to his death on January 16, 2019.

She lived her entire adult life in New Waterford where she sold Home Interiors, Avon, and provided daycare in her home. She later worked as a cashier at Vittle Village in New Waterford for 25 years. She was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church in New Waterford where she sat on church council several times, taught Sunday School, and provided custodial services. In her free time, Jean coached slow-pitch softball while both her girls played. She loved her vegetable and flower gardens, but reading and enjoying her family were her favorite pastimes.

She is survived by their three children, Jim (Pat) Wolfe of East Palestine, Leora Wolfe of Salem, and Leah (Chris Oldaker) Wolfe of Salem. She is also survived by a brother, Fred (Dina) Hurst of New Waterford; two sisters, Linda (Phil) Murphy of Wellington, Colorado, and Bonnie (Bob Boston) Hurst of New Waterford. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Macayla Barnhart, Alisha and Ashlee Steeves, Cameron Wolfe, Christopher, Jeremiah, and Leland Oldaker, Jim (Brittney Hays) Buckius, Missy and Ray Davis, and Christine and Christopher Johnson. She will also be missed by her great grandchildren, Daisy and Dwayne Dunnington, Lincoln Biggs, Remington Barnhart and Trent Butts, James, Libbie, Kaden and Mason Buckius, Rosalita Davis, Noah Kuhlen, Isaac Buckius, John Radcliff, Christopher and Luke Johnson, Adam, Jamie, and William Davis, and Zylah Oldaker; and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Wolfe; her parents, John and Norma Wilson Hurst; two brothers, John Leroy and Robert Allen Hurst; three sisters, Beverly Ann Whitehead Hurst and two at birth; two great granddaughters, Brianna and Sierra Buckius; and a great grandson, Stetson Alan Barnhart Ditmore.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home in Columbiana and on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church in New Waterford. Funeral Services will be held at the church at 11:00 am with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating.

Burial will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, New Waterford or Negley Fire Department.
