Norma Leora Hurst

New Waterford-October 6, 2009-Final services will be held to celebrate the life of Norma Leora Hurst, 77, on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Norma passed away at 2:05 a.m. Tuesday at her home with her loving family by her side.

Mrs. Hurst was born March 1, 1932 in New Waterford. She was the daughter of the late Homer and Ruth Wilson Bretz and had lived in New Waterford all her life. She had been a homemaker and a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, New Waterford.

Mrs. Hurst was a 1951 graduate of New Waterford High School. Mrs. Hurst was married to her high school sweetheart the late John Henry Hurst on June 29, 1951.

She is survived by three daughters; Norma Jean (Steven) Wolfe, Linda Sue (Philip) Murphy both of New Waterford and Bonnie (Robert Boston) Hurst of Lisbon; a daughter-in-law, Michelle Hurst of New Waterford; a son, Fred (Dina) Hurst of New Waterford; a son-in-law, Kevin Whitehead of Lisbon; a brother, Harry (Kathleen) Wilson of New Waterford; 17 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren.

Norma was preceded in death by three daughters, two infants and Beverly Whitehead; two sons, John Leroy and Robert Hurst; a sister, Shirley Hill; and two great great granddaughters, Sierra and Brianna Buckius.

Friends and family may call on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. and 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens, New Waterford.
