Negley - March 11, 2011 - Nina June Cunningham, 80, of 7631 Commerce Street, went home to be with the Lord at 6:35 a.m. Friday at her home.
Mrs. Cunningham was born June 1, 1930 in East Palestine, a daughter of Andrew and Helen Burlingame VanFossan, Sr. and had lived in this area all of her life. She had been employed as a cook at Blackhawk Golf Course and prior to that worked at Peace Valley Orchards and the former Kingwood China. She was a member of the Negley United Methodist Church.
Her husband, William E. Cunningham, Sr., whom she married March 12, 1947, preceded her in death July 23, 2002.
She is survived by a daughter, Bonny Sutherin of Pittsburgh, PA; four sons, Karl (Cindy) Cunningham of Negley, William E. (Linda) Cunningham, Jr. of Negley, Howard (Micky) Cunningham of Boston, MA, and Andrew (Peggy) Cunningham of East Palestine; 15 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her father and mother in law, Harold and Bessie Cunningham; two brothers, Andrew VanFossan, Jr. and Donald VanFossan; a sister, Dorothy Ward; and a grandson, Daniel Sutherin, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with Pastor Dennis Devorick officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Sunday.
