Nancy Jane Souder

Columbiana - Nancy Jane Souder, 83, of Columbiana, died early Sunday morning, October 27, 2013 at her home following a short illness surrounded by her family.

She was born October 14, 1930 in Salem, a daughter of the late Clifford and Maria King Callahan. Nancy was a homemaker and served as bookkeeper for her husband's construction company for over 45 years. She was a longtime member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church where she had served on various boards and committees. She was especially active in the ladies quilting group, making quilts for missions. She loved gardening, reading, and playing bridge with her friends.

Nancy loved and was devoted to her family and was survived by her husband, Richard S. Souder, whom she married May 21, 1950; two daughters, Susan (John) Bradford and Jayne Ann (Tom) Simmons, both of Columbus; a son, Timothy (Debra) Souder of Columbiana; five grandchildren, Ashley (Adam) Booth, Sarah Simmons, Mariah Souder, Guy Simmons, and Beau Simmons; and a great granddaughter, Annabelle Booth.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. James Callahan.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Jerusalem Lutheran Church with Pastor Sean Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday and at the church one hour prior to the services on Wednesday. Memorial tributes may be made to either Jerusalem Lutheran Church or Southern Care Hospice.
