Salem - November 6, 2007 - Nan F. Gongaware, 78, of 36110 Perry Grange Road, died at 10:50 p.m. Tuesday at the Pleasant View North Retirement Center.
Mrs. Gongaware was born November 25, 1928 in Evans City, PA, a daughter of Warren and Grace Hite Treadwell and had lived in this area most of her life. She had attended the Salem Trade School and had been employed as a draftsman at Hunt Valve in Salem, retiring in 1992. She had also worked at Stamets in Columbiana, L. W. Nash in East Palestine, and Gormac in North Lima.
She was a member of Grace Church in Columbiana for over 50 years where she had served the Lord in many ways including Women's Guild, church historian, Quilters, and various committees and activities.
She is survived by her husband, James R. Gongaware, whom she married October 20, 1946; a son, Terry (Aida) Gongaware of Salem; five daughters, Jeffie (Ralph) Herter of Burnet, TX, Nancy (Mark) Feezle of Leetonia, Pamela (Edward) Duko of Lisbon, Lori (Kenneth) DiPanfilo of Leetonia, and Holly (Chris) Candle of Salem; a sister, Gertrude Rush of San Andreas, CA; 13 grandchildren, Aaron Gongaware, Jessica Gongaware, Manny Figueroa, Mark Feezle, Jodi Burbick, Christina Musselman, James Musselman, Eddie Duko, Andrew Duko, Nicholas DiPanfilo, Melissa DiPanfilo, Bryan Candle, and Kelly Candle; and two great grandchildren, Griffin Gongaware and Madison Burbick.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Grace Church, Columbiana, with the Reverend Dr. Robert C. Joy officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services on Saturday.
Memorial tributes may be made to the Alliance Visiting Nurses and Hospice. Arrangements were made by the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
