Miriam Wimer Dean

Columbiana August 25, 2004 - Miriam Wimer Dean, age 83, of 1229 Columbiana-Lisbon Road died at 11:52 p.m. Tuesday in the Salem Community Hospital, where she had been a patient for six days.

She was born June 25, 1921 in New Castle PA, daughter of John C. and Adda Alexander Wimer and moved to Columbiana 57 years ago.

She had been a supervisor at Bell Telephone in New Castle during WW II and later was employed in the Bursars office at Youngstown State University for 14 years.

Mrs. Dean graduated from New Castle High School in 1939 and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Columbiana for 50 years.

Her husband, Harry Emerson Dean whom she married May 24, 1946, preceded her in death December 12, 1996.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Karen Fisher of Fallston, MD; a son, Harry E. Dean Jr. of Lakewood CO; five grandchildren, Christie Dean, Shannon Habernan and Heidi Dean, all of California and Carolyn Riess of Philadelphia, PA and R. J. Fisher of Falston MD and five great-grandchildren.

A son, Craig Dean; a sister, Jean Stevenson; two brothers, Jack Wimer and her twin, Don Wimer, preceded her in death.

Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church of Columbiana with the Rev. Dr. Robert McCreight officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbiana Cemetery.

Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Fri at Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
