Columbiana January 6, 2004 - Mrs. James E. (Mildred W. Rhodes) Nolan, age 84, of 244 Park Place died at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday in the Salem Community Hospital.

She was born May 10, 1919 in Skowhegan ME, daughter of Roland and Ethel Dulac Corson.

She had lived in Columbiana for 53 years coming from Portland ME.

Mrs. Rhodes-Nolan had been a housewife and had worked in the Skowhegen Woolen Mills and late at Heck's Restaurant. She was an avid house cleaner.

She was a member of the First Christian Church.

John R. Rhodes, whom she married September 30, 1946, preceded her in death on June 11, 1977.

She is survived by her husband, James Edward Nolan whom she married October 2, 1986; three daughters, Lorraine DiBiase of Portland, ME, Linda Crosby of West Palm Beach, FL and, Mrs. Billy (Wreatha) Williams of Clewiston, FL; two sons, Bedford Washburn of Columbiana and John Robert Rhodes, Jr. of Tucson, AZ; three sisters, Mrs. Ray (Althea) Forbes of Escovina, CA, Mrs. Gilda Gordon of Middletown, CT and Mrs. Charles (June) Gilson of Madison, ME; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-granddaughter.

A son, Sonny David Washburn; two grandchildren, a great-grandson, a sister, Minnie Corson and two brothers, Frederick Corson and Thurl Corson, Jr, preceded Mrs. Rhodes-Nolan in death.

Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home with the Clarence Mansfield, minister officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbiana Cemetery.

Friends may call 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
