Michael D. Mccarthy

East Palestine – Michael D. McCarthy, 63, of 56 North Liberty Street, died at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center, Boardman, following a long illness.

Mike was born November 22, 1951 in Salem, a son of Edmund and R. Eileen Zuch McCarthy and had lived in this area all of his life.

He had been employed as a self employed carpenter for several years. He was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church and the Loyal Order of the Moose #467 of East Palestine.

He is survived by his mother, Eileen McCarthy of East Palestine; his wife, the former Kathy L. Mackall, whom he married June 26, 1971; a daughter, Marnie (John) Bistarkey of East Palestine; a son, Philip (Angie) McCarthy of Columbiana; a sister, Toni (Tom) Povenski of East Palestine; and six grandchildren, Malynn Bistarkey, Mya McCarthy, Tyler Bistarkey, Ellianna Venezia, Laney Bistarkey, and Layla McCarthy.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Edmund McCarthy.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with Pastor Mark McTrustry officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Friday.
