Washingtonville - May 30, 2007 - Michael J. Grunick, 45, of 720 Senior Street, died Wednesday morning at his home of an apparent heart attack.

Mr. Grunick was born June 3, 1961 in Salem a son of John V. and Joan A. Mercure Grunick and had lived here all of his life.

He was employed as a tool and die maker at the General Motors Fabrication Plant in Lordstown the past 16 years. He was a member of the Leetonia Ruritan Club, the Leetonia Italian-American Club and the Salem Italian-American Club. He was serving his second term on the Leetonia Exempted Village Board of Education where he was currently president.

He is survived by his wife, the former Barbara L. Ward, whom he married May 26, 1987; his mother, Joan A. Grunick of Leetonia; two daughters, Bethany Grunick and Kathleen Grunick, both of Washingtonville; a step daughter, Geri Noel of East Palestine; a step son, Michael Elick of East Palestine; two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Karen) Falzetta of Columbiana and Mrs. George (Connie) Hull of Leetonia; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, John V. Grunick.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia, with the Reverend Thomas Eisweirth officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Friday.
