Melissa J. Brown, 63, of 109 Union Street, went home to be with the Lord Monday morning at the Salem Community Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Brown was born January 2, 1944 in Salem a daughter of the late Robert G. and Mary Jane Liston Marshall, Sr. and had lived in this area all of her life. She was a homemaker and also had babysat in her home. She had been a 4H leader for several years and collected angels, ceramic clowns, teddy bears, and loved to crochet.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald L. Brown, whom she married January 7, 1962; four daughters, Brenda Lee (Dennis) Kuttler of Leetonia, Terry S. Brown of Columbiana, Tracy L. (Darrell) Frizsell of Tennessee, and Rebecca (Rick) Ayers of Miamisburg, OH; a sister, Rebecca (Rickey) Wilson of Michigan; a brother, Robert (Sue) Marshall, Jr. of Leetonia; and eight grandchildren, Aaron Brown, whom she and her husband helped raise, Joshua, Victoria, Nicole, Danielle, Casandra, Derek, and Timothy.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia, with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. on Wednesday.
