Maxine Joy Duvall

Columbiana March 13, 2006 -Maxine Joy Duvall, age 84, of 1569 County Road 440 died at 4:16 p.m. Monday in the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, where she had been a patient for two weeks.

She was born September 17, 1921 in Upshur County, WV, daughter of Waitman Hoy and Mary Wagner Smallwood.

Mrs. Duvall had lived in Columbiana County area for most of her life and had been a Cafeteria Worker for Salem Schools for 20 years, retiring in 1981.

She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene of Lisbon.

A loving, selfless grandmother, mother and wife who continuously gave of herself to her family, friends and her God.

She was preceded in death on May 4, 1959 by her first husband, Richard Jackson, whom she married May 3, 1940.

She is survived by her husband, Harold H. Duvall whom she married June 7, 1968; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Mary Kathryn) Judy of Warren and Mrs. William (Ruthe E.) Snyder of Columbiana, a step daughter, Isabelle Hauck of Sanford, FL, a son, Richard A. Jackson of Salem; a sister, Mrs. John (Mary) Schnader of Lisbon; a step brother, Clyde Eskew of Lisbon, ten grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter and an infant son; two sisters, Amy Little and Beryl Smallwood; two step-sisters, Dessie Virginia Eskew and Osa Sharp; two brothers, James and Ernest Smallwood; and three step brothers, Cecil, Raymond and Maxwell Eskew.

Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home with the Rev. Timothy R. Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbiana Cemetery.

Friends may call 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the family present from 6-8.
