Pittsburgh, PA - May 14, 2005 - Former East Palestine, Ohio resident Mavouret P. Macklin Allison, age 95, died Saturday in Pittsburgh, PA.

Mrs. Allison was born on Feb. 7, 1910 in East Palestine, Ohio a daughter of Howard N. and Florence Dunlap Herrington. She grew up and was a graduate of East Palestine High School and played on the girl's basketball team, which won all state in 1928. The photo now hangs in the hallway at E.P.H.S.

Mrs. Allison was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church and East Palestine Chapter #381 Order of The Eastern Star.

Her first husband, Lawrence Macklin, who was killed in an automobile accident at the age of 29, preceded Mrs. Allison in death. They had a daughter, Therla Jean Macklin who was their only child.

Mrs. Macklin then attended Business College in Salem, Ohio and received an engineering degree. She became executive secretary of several CEO's including Youngstown Sheet and Tube, Westinghouse Electric in Youngstown, and Kenmar Furniture in East Palestine. She later worked for Sunkist Growers in Ontario, CA and then was assistant City Clerk in Pomona, CA.

In 1948, she was married to Arthur E. Allison, brother of Sally Hall who resides in East Palestine along with her husband, Robert Hall and family. Mr. and Mrs. Allison moved to Pomona, CA and later to Portland, Oregon. Her daughter, Therla Jean also moved to the West coast with them in 1951.

She was preceded in death by her second husband, Arthur Allison and three brothers, Clifford, Earl and Lauren Herrington.

Mavouret lived in Claremont, CA with her daughter and son-in-law, Reuben Meisch from 1985 to 1996 at which time she moved to Pittsburgh, PA to be with her longtime companion Mr. Harry Lyon.

She is survived by her daughter, Therla Jean Meisch of Claremont, CA, her companion, Harry Lyon of Pittsburgh, PA; two granddaughters, Carol Schlick and husband William of Claremont, CA and Mary Bebek and husband John Bebek of Dove Canyon, CA; one grandson, Douglas Meisch of Claremont, CA and four great grandchildren, Ashley and Willie Schlick of Claremont, CA and John and Matt Bebek of Dove Canyon, CA.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Centenary United Methodist Church, East Palestine with the Reverend Ron Spore officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. Friends may call at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine from 5-7 pm Thursday and at the church one hour prior to the services on Friday. East Palestine Chapter will conduct OES services at 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Centenary United Methodist Church, East Palestine Eastern Star, East Palestine Historical Society, or the East Palestine Public Library.
