Mary Catherine Johnson

South Vienna, OH-Mary Catherine Johnson, 79, of South Vienna, OH passed away Thursday evening, October 27, 2016 at Springfield Regional Medical Center following a long illness.

Mrs. Johnson was born April 19, 1937 in Beaver Falls, PA, a daughter of the late Voyle and Hazel Murphy Hunter.

Mary was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Claude E. Johnson, Sr., whom she married June 23, 1955; her daughter, Coreena Johnson (David Elyachar) of Shawnee, KS; her two sons, Timothy (Laurie) Johnson of Mt. Vernon, OH and Claude E. (Sue) Johnson, Jr. of Goodridge, MN; ten grandchildren, Andrea, Claude III, Mike, Angela, Gregory, Jessie, Jennifer, Cody, Gary and Leah; and twenty-four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy L. Johnson who passed away November 2, 2015 and two brothers, Ronald and Clarence Hunter.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2016 at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine, OH with Mr. Tim Postle, Evangelist officiating. Burial will follow in Little Beaver Cemetery. Friends will be received from 7-9 pm Sunday at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at Springfield Regional Medical Center who lovingly cared for Mary the past several years.
