Leetonia –Mary Ann Hosack, age 77, of Leetonia, who died on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Hospice House, Poland surrounded by her loving family.
Mary Ann was born on September 19, 1944, in Salem, daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth Fromm Mancuso.
Mary Ann, a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, graduated in 1962 from Leetonia High School and was famously known as the Leetonia Bear Mascot. After high school, Mary Ann attended beauty school at Lewis Weinburger and Hill. Upon graduation, she started her career at Wilma’s Beauty Shop.
Mary Ann married the love of her life on February 13, 1965, and would have celebrated their 57th anniversary this month. They made their home in Leetonia where Mary Ann opened her own beauty shop attached to their home. She was a talented and skilled beautician and made many customers happy as well as beautiful with her creativity. After twenty-five years, Mary Ann ended her career at Sam’s Club in Boardman working as a supervisor in the membership and marketing department.
Mary Ann’s greatest accomplishments were her children and she spent many hours attending their sporting events and activities. She was always involved and helped raised money to support their teams. She carried on this tradition attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities as well.
Mary Ann enjoyed traveling with her family and spent many vacations in the Outer Banks and Disney World with her entire family. She also enjoyed multiple vacations with her best friend, her husband Dave. Casinos were a regular place they would visit trying their luck at the slot machines.
Mary Ann loved to bake and cook for her family and friends. She was proud of her Italian heritage and carried on all of the family traditions teaching her children and grandchildren. If you stopped at her home, Mary Ann would invite you to the table and feed you. She was famous for her pies, kolachi and homemade pizza. Mary Ann was a steward of her time and talents and extended this tradition of cooking at her home parish, St. Patrick Church, teaching all the volunteers how to make homemade pierogies to support the parish.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, David L. Hosack, a daughter Stephanie A. (Thomas) Stecker of Leetonia; two sons David M. Hosack (Heather) of Medina, and Daniel L. (Lisa) Hosack of Hubbard; two sisters, Ginny Less of Leetonia and Clorinda Rutzky of Leetonia; eleven grandchildren, Alexa Bruderly, Gabriella Hosack, Zoe Bruderly, Ruthanne Hosack, Derek Hosack, Giavanna Hosack, Daniella Hosack, Kendra Hosack, Nicholas Bruderly, Micah and Matteo, and a son-in-law Michael Bruderly.
Mary Ann will be forever remembered for her kindness and for talking to anyone who would listen. She was an example to follow and blessed everyone with her presence and showered all with her love and affection.
The family would like to thank Mercy Health Boardman ICU staff for their amazing care and compassion.
A memorial mass will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Leetonia, with Father Michael Swierz officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Leetonia Exempted Village School District Food Pantry.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
