Leetonia-December 12, 2006-Mary A. Hartz, age 68, of 2874 State Route 164, died peacefully at 10:50 p.m. Tuesday surrounded by her family and friends at Northside Hospital in Youngstown.
Mrs. Hartz was born May 23, 1938 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Earl and Ruth Carney King and had lived in Leetonia since 1972 coming from the Youngstown area.
She had worked for the former Packaging Corporation of America in Youngstown for several years. She also worked for Gorant's Candies in Boardman where she enjoyed making gift baskets.
Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and best friend to all who knew her and is survived by her husband, Melvin J. Hartz whom she married December 4, 1957; her daughter, Mrs. Robert (Pam) Beiler of Myakka City, FL; her two sons, James (Mary) Hartz of Virginia Beach, VA and Timothy (Tammy) Hartz of Leetonia; two sisters, Anna Mae D'Amico and JoAnn Fire both of Austintown; a brother, Earl (Kathy) King of Canton; a brother-in-law, Kenny Skelley of Austintown; a brother-in-law and his spouse Bruce and Edie Hartz of Warren and a sister-in-law and her spouse, Monte and Marlene Beck of Florida; and six grandchildren, Rose Marie and Becky Beiler of Florida, Rocky and Brandy Hartz of Columbiana and Casey and Corey Hartman of Leetonia.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Skelley.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home, Columbiana with Reverend John Bartholomew officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
