East Palestine - May 3, 2007 - Mary R. Cartwright, 90, of 643 East Main Street, died Thursday at 3:57 p.m. at the Salem Community Hospital. Mrs. Cartwright was born December 16, 1916 in Freedom, PA, a son of Amos and Goldie George Burson and had lived in this area all of her life.
She had worked at W. S. George Pottery and later for M & W Electric as a press operator for 14 years retiring in 1966.
Her husband, Joseph Cartwright, whom she married on December 1, 1934, preceded her in death on September 7, 1990. A son James Cartwright; a granddaughter Amy Cartwright; four sisters, Nancy Cartwright, Bessie Ward, Ruth Blair, and Viola Burson; as well as, three brothers, Everett, Sterling and Glenn Guy are also deceased.
She is survived by a son, Garry Cartwright of Petersburg; a half sister, Mrs. William (Janet) Fegert of East Palestine; two half brothers William Biggins of New Waterford and Thomas Cartwright of East Palestine; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, at the Burns Memorial Chapel in Glenview Cemetery with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery, East Palestine.
Arrangements were made by the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine.
